President Ghani Chairs NSC Meeting

Kabul (BNA) The National Security Council (NSC), with President Ghani on the chair discussed some key issues on agendas, including security in Helmand, Nangarhar, Uruzgan, Farah, Kandahar, Ghor and Faryab provinces, a statement from the presidential palace said Tuesday.
The meeting lauded the sacrifices made by the country’s security and defense forces in troubled provinces, with the president instructing the organs concerned for rebuffing security threats in the provinces, said the statement.
Considering the need of bringing reforms in the local police, the National Security Council asked the ministry of interior to provide its final report about the local police reforms and present in the next week session of the council, according to the statement.
To conclude with, the council emphasized on implementation of effective policies on prevention of children recruitment in the defense and security ranks, reduction of civilian casualties, prevention of torture as well as bringing the required reforms in the justice and judicial organs, and the achievements made by the government in this field and the government commitment with cooperation of the international criminal court and other international human rights and humanitarian organizations, the statement said.
