Meritocracy To Be Considered In Armed Forces Appointments

Kabul (BNA) President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai and the commander-in-chief of the armed forces have said that from now on, merit must be respected in appointing officials with the armed forces.
Addressing the conference of the joint meeting of the commanders of police, army and national directorate for security here the other day, said that the national security organs of Afghanistan had proved that they can safeguard their country’s freedom independently and ensure law & order. Lauding the sacrifices and bravery of the security personnel, the president once again repeated that the killers of the security personnel should be bring to justice, saying the victims of armed forces are Shaheed (martyrs) and deserve respect. The president stated that the allowances of the martyrs should be given to their families. President Ahmadzai also stressed that air force of the country should stand on its feet with the support of the international friends. The president also said that merit would be kept in mind in appointing officers and anyone promoted to the rank of General, the president himself would have half an hour interview.
