Top Officials Visits Aynak Copper Mine, Progress Assured on Project Implementation

 

KABUL (BNA) In a significant development, Sheikh Shahabuddin Delawar, the Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum, undertook a visit to the Ainak copper mine in Logar province.

Accompanied by esteemed officials including Mullah Khairullah Khairkhah, the Acting Minister of Information and Culture, Zhao Xing the Chinese ambassador in Kabul, Mawlavi Zia-ur-Rahman Madani, the governor of Logar, and a representative from the Ministry of Energy and Water, the delegation assessed the progress and work being carried out at the Ainak copper mine area.

During their visit, the delegation meticulously inspected various sections of the Ainak copper mine and explored the adjacent archaeological sites. The purpose of the visit was to closely monitor the advancements made in the Aynak copper project. In a productive meeting with the officials from the China Metallurgical Group Corporation (MCC), responsible for the project, detailed information was shared regarding the project’s progress and operational activities.

The MCC officials provided comprehensive updates on upcoming initiatives, including the construction of the Aynak copper mine road, slated to commence in the near future.

The officials conveyed that most of the project-related issues have been successfully resolved, signifying the readiness to undertake practical work. Emphasizing the preservation of the archaeological sites in the area, they assured that the initiation of the copper mine project would not cause any harm to these historically significant locations.

Mullah Khairullah Khairkhwa, the Acting Minister of Information and Culture, expressed his appreciation for the ancient monuments in the region and emphasized the importance of their protection. He further pledged the full cooperation of the Ministry of Information and Culture to facilitate the smooth progress of the project.

Furthermore, the Deputy of the Ministry of Energy and Water affirmed the commitment of the Ministry to provide necessary assistance in terms of electricity and water supply for the Aynak copper mine.

The visit by Sheikh Shahabuddin Delawar and the subsequent positive discussions with MCC officials have instilled confidence in the successful implementation of the Aynak copper project. This ambitious endeavor holds significant promise for the region, combining economic growth with the preservation of cultural heritage.
