NSC Praises Army Soldiers’ Bravery in Ghaziabad

Kabul (BNA) Presided over by Hamid Karzai, president of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, a routine session of National Security Council was held yesterday, at presidential palace. According to Presidential press office to BNA, at the beginning of the session, overall security condition of the country was discussed.
Following, ministers of defense and interior and acting directorate of security while briefing related to the overall security conditions of the country assessed maintaining the security process of elections as positive, praising presidential candidates for their cooperation and coordination with relevant security organs.
Later on, ANA Chief of Staff presented results of investigation related to Ghaziabad incident, which was not satisfactory to the session and was decided that further investigation should be followed related to the incident.
The session while discussing on dreadful incident of Ghaziabad stressed on joint intelligence information in technical, operational and national units between security sections and enhancement of role of employees of 220 Hesar of national security in all ANA units and it was instructed that necessary measures should be taken for prevention of such incidents.
President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan while praising ANA soldiers for their bravery and courage in Sarghash camp in Ghaziabad district of Kunar instructed administrative affairs for secretariat of ministerial council to appreciate and grant medal of courage to seven ANA soldiers who stood against enemies and saved the life of 19 soldiers in the incident.
The president also instructed the administrative organs to provide assistance to the martyred families of Ghaziabad incident.
The meeting also discussed the arrest of 15 men who had reportedly forged the Herat governor and police chief signatures to transfer smuggled weapons to the neighboring Badghis province, where they confessed of their crimes that they had been trained in a coalitions forces comp, how to clear mines, some of the forces working under CMRG to receive salary from the coalition forces.
The National Security Council has ordered the minister for interior and acting head of national directorate for security to present the report of its investigation to the next meeting of National Security Council. The minister for interior briefed the participants in the meeting about security achievement in Hisarak district of Nangarhar province, saying after five years, with the support of locals and cleanup operations the Taliban militants have been wiped out from Hisarak and government departments resumed operations there normally. In the meeting the head of commission for ensuring security for elections, expressed concerns over tendency that the Ministry of Information and Culture should device a policy to ensure the impartiality of print and electronic media outlets during elections process. The Minister of Interior also presented his report on renewing demarcation marks along the western borders and it was decided that in coordination with the advisor on national security and finance ministry to prepare necessary fund and begin the work on the border with Iran where there is no bilateral problems. The Minister for Foreign Affairs presented his report on killing Turkmenistan border police by smugglers from Afghanistan soil. The National Security Council has tasked the Interior Ministry to take necessary steps for ensuring security along the common border between the two countries. Foreign Minister also presented report on construction of Daso power dam which is built by Pakistan on Kohistan areas of Khyber Pashtun khan district on Kabul-Indus River with the support of the World Bank. The national Security Council in the meeting expressed its concerns over the Pakistani step and termed it a violation of international laws on common rivers. It also said that building of Daso power dam on Kabul- Indus River where in the Afghanistan has the right to use right on Kabul River is against Afghanistan’s interest. The National Security Council also informed the World Bank not to finance the project without consulting with Afghan side. At the end of the meeting, the governor of Khost province briefed about the Pakistan army operations in North Waziristan and possible flooding of refugees and it was decided to provide humanitarian assistance to displace people.
