President Ghani Attends OIC Summit in Saudi Arabia

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Thursday arrived to Saudi Arabia to participate in a summit of Islamic countries leaders organized by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Makkah.
The summit was inaugurated on Friday and was attended by kings and heads of states and governments of the OIC’s 57 member countries.
The presidential palace press office in a statement said that President Ghani would deliver his speech at the summit and talk about the role of Islamic countries in the Afghan peace process, fighting terrorism and economic cooperation.
According to the statement, the president would also meet with leaders of Islamic countries separately on the sidelines of the OIC summit.
The conference is expected to focus on the Afghan peace process as a central issue besides discussing the Middle East conflict and the proposed peace plan to diffuse the situation.  The organization has previously also conducted meetings about Afghanistan and the Afghan peace process.
