Further Pressure To Be Exerted On Taliban, MoI

Kabul (BNA) A spokesman to ministry of interior has regarded killing of Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Mansour as big success in counterterrorism effort, saying that further pressure would be exerted on Taliban. MoI spokesman Sediq Sediqi, speaking yesterday in a news conference, asserted that targeting the leader of Taliban group was parts of Afghanistan government’s efforts and regarded killing of the Taliban leader as a big success towards counterterrorism efforts. According to Sediqi, by killing Taliban leader the group was under further pressure and the country’s security forces would expand their clearing operations in particular Shafaq operation in the country, adding that key individuals of Taliban would be targeted in the operations. Recalling of launching 711 combat and clearing operations against terrorist groups, MoI spokesman said more than 1700 insurgents have been killed and 465 others injured in various parts of the country during the past two months. Sediqi reiterated that clearing operations of Afghan national security forces would be expanded in Helmand, Badakhshan, Kunduz and Faryab provinces.
