Kabul (BNA) President Ashraf Ghani met Deborah Lyons, the UN Secretary General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan and Head of UNAMA at the Presidential Palace late on Tuesday.
At the meeting, both sides discussed a range of issues related to the Afghan peace process, need for urgent reduction in violence, as well as strengthened UN support to the national COVID-19 response.
Increase in violence is unacceptable for people of Afghanistan, government has brought strong national consensus in peace process, therefore, international community should support people’s demand, President Ghani said.
Ms. Lyons shared details about her latest trip in Doha with President Ghani and congratulated successful holding of Geneva Conference to President and people of Afghanistan.
At the end, UN Secretary General’s Special Representative emphasized on ending violence and war in Afghanistan.
