Afghanistan Shocks Kyrgyzstan, Secures Historic Spot in Futsal World Cup

KABUL (BNA) In a thrilling showdown, the Afghanistan national futsal team triumphed over Kyrgyzstan with a remarkable scoreline of 5-3, securing their place in the prestigious Futsal World Cup as Asia’s fifth representative.

The victory came as a surprise to many, as Kyrgyzstan boasted an imposing reputation and high-scoring potential.

Displaying a combination of aggression and tactical prowess, Afghanistan’s national team caught their opponents off guard with an impressive performance.

However, a curious turn of events saw Kyrgyz player Asgar Bekov inadvertently scoring a goal in favor of Afghanistan.

This historic win marks Afghanistan’s maiden qualification for the Futsal World Cup, solidifying their growing presence in the global futsal arena.

Overcoming the absence of four key players, the Afghan team displayed resilience and determination throughout the AFC Futsal Championships, ultimately securing a commendable fifth-place finish to secure their spot in the World Cup.

Joining the ranks of futsal powerhouses such as Brazil, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Argentina, and Italy, Afghanistan’s participation in the Futsal World Cup is considered a tremendous honor.

Majid Mortezaie, the head coach of Afghanistan’s national futsal team, emphasized the importance of recognizing Afghanistan as a formidable force in futsal during a pre-match press briefing ahead of their clash with Kyrgyzstan.

The Futsal World Cup, set to be hosted by Uzbekistan in September of this year, will witness the convergence of twenty-four teams from across the globe. Futsal expert Zaki Amiri believes that with the return of their four key stars, Afghanistan possesses the potential to become a formidable force against any team worldwide and make a lasting impact in the tournament.
