KABUL (BNA): A new round of polio vaccinations for children has begun in several parts of the country.
The Ministry of Public Health, in collaboration with international organizations, has launched the first round of sub-campaigns for polio vaccination in 2024. The plan is to vaccinate five million children under the age of five by the first of February.
Dr. Qalandar Ebad, Acting Minister of Public Health, has expressed his commitment to eradicating polio in Afghanistan and emphasized the importance of continuous efforts in vaccination campaigns and healthcare services.
He considers the support of the people, especially religious leaders, elders, and scholars, crucial in the fight against polio. Afghanistan and Pakistan are the only countries in the world with ongoing polio cases.
