Acting Public Health Minister Talks Healthcare Enhancements with Malaysian Delegation

 

KABUL(BNA): In a recent meeting, Dr. Qalandar Ebad, the Acting Minister of Public Health, held talks with Mrs. Shazlina Zainul Abidin, Malaysia’s Prime Minister’s representative, and her delegation to discuss strengthening Afghanistan’s healthcare system and enhancing the capacity of Healthcare workers, as well as bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, Dr. Ibad highlighted delivering healthcare services to remote regions as a core duty of the ministry and  emphasized the need for intensified efforts to bolster the nation’s healthcare system and underscored Malaysia’s collaboration as crucial, urging bilateral cooperation.

He also mentioned that currently, there are 11,000 active beds across all healthcare facilities nationwide and There is a need to increase this number to 45,000 beds in order to provide healthcare services to the citizens of the country and to train Afghan specialists in various sectors.

In the end, the head of the Malaysian government delegation pledged continued support and collaboration in the healthcare sector.
