Afghanistan and Turkmenistan Strengthen Trade Ties and Discuss Transit Cooperation

 

KABUL (BNA) In a meeting between Nooruddin Azizi, the Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce, and Chakiyev, the Deputy President of Turkmenistan, held in Kabul, both nations expressed their commitment to bolstering bilateral trade and enhancing transit cooperation.

The meeting, attended by a high-ranking delegation from Turkmenistan, focused on various areas of economic collaboration and explored avenues to facilitate the movement of goods between the two countries.

One of the key topics discussed was the implementation of preferential tariff arrangements for Afghan export goods.

Additionally, the meeting addressed the trilateral transit agreement involving Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan. By enhancing transit routes and promoting seamless movement of goods, the three nations aim to create a more efficient and interconnected trade network in the region.

The agreement seeks to leverage the geographical advantages of the countries involved, promoting economic integration and facilitating trade across borders.

Furthermore, discussions were held regarding the establishment of a major logistics center in Torghundi, Afghanistan.

The meeting also focused on resolving quarantine issues related to Afghan export and transit goods, a critical aspect of ensuring smooth trade flows. Efforts to enhance banking relations between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan were emphasized, as stronger financial ties can foster increased trade and investment opportunities.
