New Delhi Expresses Willingness for Engagement with Islamic Emirate

KABUL (BNA): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a delegation from the Republic of India’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The delegation was led by J.P. Singh, India’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan.

During his visit to Kabul, Singh engaged in discussions with several high-ranking officials of the Islamic Emirate, including the Acting Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amir Khan Muttaqi.

Following this high-level diplomatic visit to Kabul, the spokesperson for India’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs underscored Delhi’s commitment to engaging with Afghanistan, highlighting that India’s policy in Afghanistan is guided by historical ties.

Randhir Jaiswal, the spokesperson for India’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, revealed that the diplomatic delegation, led by the country’s special representative, held talks in Kabul about India’s humanitarian aid to the Afghan people and the potential use of the Chabahar port by Afghan traders. These discussions involved authorities from the Emirates and the United Nations.

Jaiswal stressed India’s historical and cultural connections with the Afghan people, asserting that these relationships will shape India’s strategy and policy towards Afghanistan.

He further added that their delegation also held talks with officials from the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) and members of the Afghan Chamber of Commerce about India’s humanitarian aid to the Afghan people. The potential use of the Chabahar port by Afghan traders was also a topic of discussion.

Meanwhile, the Islamic Emirate continues to pursue a policy of engagement, cooperation, and balanced diplomacy in its relations with other countries.
