MoI Warns Over Politicians’ Interference In Security Organs

Kabul (BNA) As foreign forces officially ended their combat mission in Afghanistan on Monday, the spokesman to Ministry of Interior (MoI) says the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) have taken all security responsibilities in the country.
Speaking in a joint news conference yesterday with NATO civilian spokesman Crestov Chaper, spokesman to MoI Seddiq Seddiqi asserted that the Afghan Security Forces had particular abilities and capabilities and have taken all security responsibilities upon ending combat mission to ISAF and NATO. Recalling of capacity building and further ability of the ANSF, Seddiqi added that the special ANP air forces could launch independent air operations and have launched a number of such operations in the country. “We have set up coordinating centers in all provinces and a number of districts and are trying to strengthen them,” he said. In the news conference, Seddiqi warned over interference of politicians in security organs, saying that politicians, interference was going on in the security institution. He asked them not to interfere in military organs of the country. “NATO’s Resolute Support Mission begins after 2014, while its combat mission has ended, but partnership between Afghanistan and NATO will continue,” Seddiqi asserted. He added Afghans once again obtained the support in international conferences of London and Brussels. Meanwhile, NATO civilian spokesman told journalists in the conference that nearly 3,400 NATO soldiers had been killed in war against terrorism in Afghanistan during the past 13 years. He said NATO’s new mission is Resolute Support (RS), including training, advising, funding and continued support, would begin in Jan 2015.
