Kabul (BNA) Second Vice President Mohammad Karim Khalili in a meeting with the UN Secretary General Special Envoy to Afghanistan Jan Kubis here yesterday said that Afghanistan won’t return to the past dark days.
According to presidential press office to BNA, in the meeting the UN special envoy offered his condolence with the families of those lost nears at landslide in Badakhshan and floods in other provinces. The UN official also announced the readiness of the UN agencies and international community’s commitment to support the natural disasters affected people.
Jan Kubis also congratulated the people and the government of Afghanistan over holding successful elections in the first round and the messages of the presidential candidates and election commissions for having transparent elections in the second round.
In the meeting, Khalili besides thanking the international aid agencies over supporting natural disaster affected people said that despite the natural disaster, people in more than 20 provinces are facing no serious problems in the field of receiving food and non-food items.
Khalili also pointed out that vast participation of the people in the first round of elections was a clear message to the enemies that Afghanistan won’t return to the dark past.
