Babu Dam ‌‌‌‌‌Built in Kandahar

Kandahar (BNA) The construction of Babu Dam in Kandahar was completed.

This dam has the ability to hold one hundred and twenty-six thousand cubic meters of water and can irrigate up to ten thousand acres of fields in Arghistan district.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock spent nearly eight million and five hundred thousand Afghanis to build the Babu Dam.

Kandahar Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Director Seyed Hafizullah Seydi told BNA, that the construction of the dam would also help strengthen groundwater, prevent soil degradation, prevent floods, make the area greener and provide water for livestock.

Kandahar’s director of agriculture, irrigation and livestock says the Ministry of Agriculture has implemented eighty-three small and large irrigation projects in parts of Kandahar’s Arghistan district in the past two years.

The peasants are happy with the construction of this dam and say that after this, water will be prevented and they will work in the boom of agriculture.
