KABUL (BNA) In a productive meeting held between Sheikh Shahabuddin Delawar, the Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum in Afghanistan, and the Chinese ambassador in Kabul, both parties expressed their commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation.
The discussions primarily revolved around the progress and future prospects of the Mes Aynak copper mine project and the Amu River oil field.
During the meeting, Minister Delawar announced plans to increase oil extraction in the Amu River oil field.
Currently, approximately 1,400 tons of oil are extracted daily from the field. To further boost production, the ministry intends to drill twenty new oil wells in the area.
Minister Delawar and the Chinese ambassador shared their opinions and suggestions to ensure the timely and efficient execution of the project.
The Chinese government intends to organize educational programs aimed at enhancing the skill sets of individuals across various sectors.
The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum has been encouraged to nominate representatives who can benefit from these training programs.
The planned expansion of oil extraction in the Amu River oil field and the continued progress of the Aynak copper mine project signify positive strides in Afghanistan’s natural resource development.
