No Major Uplift Projects in Paktika, Elders Complain

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met a number of Paktika representatives to national assembly here the other day, a presidential statement said.
The meeting which was also attended by Masoum Stanikzai chief of the national directorate for security, acting minister of defense Tariq Shah Bahrami, deputy to administrative office of the president Mohammad Haroon Chakhansoori and acting minister of communications Sayed Ahmad Shah Sadat, the Paktika elders and representatives prayed for the souls of Shaheen 209 corps’ martyrs.
Mahmood Sulaimankhel a lawmaker from the province, spoke on behalf of the people, adding most roads linking districts with Sharan, the provincial capital, were blocked and no major uplift project had been implemented in the province.
Mohammad Haroon Chakhansoori briefed the meeting on 72 uplift projects to be carried out in Paktika by different ministries.
President Ghani promised taking measures to reopen roads and improve the communications system in the province.  He said the construction of six schools in many districts would be launched soon.  The president also instructed chef of national directorate for security to adopt necessary measures for improving of the security in the province.
