UNAMA Affirms International Community’s Commitment to Humanitarian Aid in Afghanistan

 

KABUL (BNA): A meeting was held between Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi, the Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs, and Indrika Ratwatte, the Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).

During the meeting, Ratwatte expressed the international community’s ongoing commitment to humanitarian aid for the people of Afghanistan.

He welcomed the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s plans for distributing aid to those in need, particularly earthquake victims in Herat and returnees. Ratwatte emphasized the importance of overall security, prevention of trafficking, trade, and drug use, and combating administrative corruption.

Ratwatte further stated that the international community’s humanitarian aid to the Afghan people will continue. He urged officials of the Islamic Emirate to collaborate in facilitating the delivery of this aid to the needy. He also highlighted that the forced expulsion of migrants by neighboring countries violates international migration laws.

In response, Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi expressed appreciation for the international community’s humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people. He confirmed that officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan are cooperating with international organizations and aid agencies in delivering assistance to those in need.

He also underscored the ongoing, improper expulsion of Afghan migrants from neighboring countries, calling for its immediate cessation in accordance with international standards.
