Ministry Of Interior To Take Security Of Countrywide Mines’ Project

Kabul (BNA) Chaired by president of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai the National Committee held a meeting in the presidential palace Sunday discussing security of the mines projects across the country, his office said.
The meeting also focused on the proposals of the Chinese petroleum company’s head that had been discussed alongside the Shanghai Summit in Beijing asking for taking security Amu River projects for extraction of petroleum, the statement said.
The meeting obliged the ministry of interior to deploy full equipped and well trained 300 security troops across the Amu Darya to take security for extraction projects of the petroleum in cooperation with the ministry of mines and increase the number to 450 troops after the end of the first six months the ongoing year if needed.
Both the ministry of interior affairs and the National Directorate of Security (NDS) had been instructed by the committee to strongly conduct against any attempt in destruction of the mines as the project can play an effective role in self-sufficiency of the country in different parts based on the requirements of the ministry of mines.
The meeting also focused on the Kuran-wa-Munajan district’sAzure mine which is right now illegally being excavated by irresponsible individuals and decided that the ministry of mines should put it to bidding in order to legally be exploited.
