Disabled Representatives Meet President Karzai

Kabul (BNA) The representatives of the disabled in their meeting with President Hamid Karzai shared their problems with him.
The meeting held at the presidential palace yesterday was also attended by national security advisor, ministers of Hajj and Endowment, labor and social affairs, public health, interior, finance and Kabul Mayor, Mawlawi Shamsullah Hqani and Eng. Daoud Sayar spoke on behalf of others.
Haqani said that the disabled forms 2.7% of the population of Afghanistan and they want to live in calm atmosphere, retain their honor and security within the society.
They asked for promotion of the office of deputy minister for martyrs and the disabled into a ministry status, distribution of land plots, creation of work areas for the disabled through sales outlets and specifying of doctors for treatment of the disabled.
They also asked specific share for their Hajj pilgrimage and higher education at the government and private universities and awarding of scholarships for their children. 
They also asked provision of the disabled salaries on the basis of recent amendment and realization of the 1.5% of national income for improving the lives of the disabled. 
They stressed that the government should support the national federation of disabled people and the disabled having the ability should be awarded the driving permit. 
They also asked that their representatives should be at the High peace council, house of people and provincial councils. 
President Hamid Karzai following hearing their proposals said that the Afghan nation consider the disabled having lost their limbs in defense of the country as very good people.  
At the meeting it was decided that work areas in terms of sales outlets should be prepared for the disabled and justice done in its distribution, so that this not only close the streets and disrupt commuters.
The president issued instructions to the related organs with respect to land plots, assigning of doctors at the physical revival clinics, preparing of share for Hajj pilgrimage, creation of ground for higher education for the disabled.
The president said that the government will study their demands in presence of their representatives in the coming cabinet meeting and shall take necessary decisions.
