Highway Insecurity; MoI Instructs For Tightening Country-Wide Security

Kabul (BNA)   The ministry of interior, in a security meeting with the senior security officials of his ministry, insisted on insuring security across the country’s throughways, particularly in the northern several turbulent provinces.
In a special meeting of the ministry’s related major police officers, Minister Uloomi called the highways key for the country’s economic and strategic matters and said the police should do their best to take security of the highways connecting the center to the provinces, particularly, in the remote insecure provinces of the north. According to him, insurgents were making efforts to use the highways as means to expand their dominance and threats to the eastern and nearby provinces. The main police chief assured for the security and defensive forces, particularly, the police to, in the price their lives, do their best to protect the highways security to help the people travel tranquilly. Meanwhile, some house of people members expressed concern over the prevailing insecurity in the Northern provinces’ highways, asked the security forces to repress insurgency across the country’s remote provinces through troops’ deployment along the highways and establishment check and security posts.
Khopulwak told that security of the said provinces, with the remote Badakhshan, Kunduz and Faryab in the northern for their strategically values, would be the key priority of the country’s security forces as the insurgents could easily use them a means to spread threats and extend their insurgency across the country’s northeastern provinces as well. An expert, Amir Mohammad said if the security could be broken across the thoroughfares of the country, other provinces would get insecure and the government armed oppositions would spread over their militancy all over the close provinces. He asked the security forces to deploy more troops along the highways to secure the nearby provinces and prevent the militants’ threats’ expansion to other areas, as he said the capital would also get insecure if the highways enter under the militants’ threats. The government forces should have tactical setback, otherwise, some provinces would gravely feel threats from the militants. A number of Kabul citizens, with strong trust in the government of national unity believed they see a good future for the upcoming (solar) year, as they are hopeful, for having a stronger security forces compared to the last year. They asked the government for tightening security of the highways as they can play the role of the country’s economic artery, particularly the capital from the north. Large number of people in the north staged a peaceful demonstration asking the government for making efforts to insure security of the highways and prevent further kidnapping and killing of the innocent passengers. This is while, wide number of insurgents has reportedly been killed during the security forces operations in the northern and hope is raising for further mop up operation in the remote provinces, with the Taliban threats.
