Recent Attacks Against Those Representing New Afghanistan, Democracy and Republic Unacceptable: President Ghani

Kabul (BNA)  Meeting of the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, chaired by the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, was held on Monday evening at the Presidential Palace, a statement said yesterday.

At this meeting, the officials of the security and defense sector first presented their report on the general security situation in the country. The meeting discussed the security situation in Kabul and targeted terrorist attacks against civil society activists, political figures and media workers, the presidential palace statement added.

“These targeted attacks are aimed at those who represent the new Afghanistan and are the voice of democracy, republic and freedom of expression and are unacceptable for the government of Afghanistan,” the president told the meeting.

The President, as quoted in the statement, instructed the officials of the security and defense organs to take the necessary measures to identify and punish the perpetrators of the mentioned terrorist incidents.

The President and the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces instructed security organs to use all available resources in consultation with the civil society and media institutions of the country in order to prevent a recurrence of such unfortunate events.

First Vice President Amrullah Saleh provided detailed information on the outcome of 6:30am meetings and their results in order to prevent criminal incidents in Kabul, according to the statement.
