President Karzai and Turkish PM Underscore the Need for Joint Regional Fight against Terrorism and Extremism

Kabul (BNA) In the context of the Bali Democracy Forum in Indonesia, President Hamid Karzai held, this afternoon in the city of Bali, a bilateral meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The meeting focused on issues of mutual interest including enhanced bilateral cooperation as well as the importance of continued Turkish role in helping Afghanistan’s peace process and in securing regional support to confront the common security threats.
President Karzai and Prime Minister Erdogan also discussed the effective role that the trilateral summits involving Afghanistan, Pakistan and Turkey can play in furthering the mutual confidence and trust as well as cooperation among the regional countries especially in fighting terrorism and extremism.
Calling Pakistan’s role important in fighting terrorism and extremism, the two leaders underscored the need for the tripartite framework of talks to continue.
