Kabul (BNA) Based on media reports, the US President has signed a document that extent the US military mission in Afghanistan for another year.
BNA analyst evaluating the security situation in Afghanistan and this sensitive region comments as follow; while the withdrawal of Americans and American led NATO forces will be completed by the end of the current year (2014), Barak Obama the President of US has signed a document that extends the presence of that country’s combatant forces in Afghanistan for another year. While according to the previous program of that country, the aim of presence of US military personnel in Afghanistan after 2014 was to train, equip and financially supporting of Afghanistan security forces, but the recent decision indicates that the US due to the recent development in the region and the world showing its concern about the deterioration of the situation in this sensitive region by extending its combatant mission in Afghanistan.
Considering the emergence of so called Islamic State, who have captured a huge swathe of territories in Iraq and Syria and treats its opponents in the harshest way. Killing, beheading and torturing are their common deeds that practice publically in one hand and on the other hand the appearance of another extremist group called Boko Haram in Nigeria and increasing terrorist activities in the region and the world, made the concern of international community and US acceptable. Also with pulling out of foreign forces from Afghanistan that will be completed by the end of 2014, terrorist activities gravely increased in that country. all the current facts indicate that there are certain groups who support Taliban and want using the situation further weaken Afghanistan government and to make the country a safe haven for terrorist activities and threat other vulnerable countries.
Although, the official sources have not express their views regarding to the recent decision of President Obama, but Afghans who have sustained heavy casualties and losses, welcome any move that curbs the terrorist and extremists activities in the region and any part of the world. But, the Afghans emphasize that since the aim foreign forces in Afghanistan is complete eradication of terrorism, therefore, if they want to achieve their noble goal this is eradication of terrorists and extremists should target and destroy their hideouts and sanctuaries, now everybody knows about them. In this way, the foreign forces can achieve their goal and rid the people of the region and entire world from the evil of terrorism and extremism forever.
Political experts believe that the Americans want to gain victory against terrorism within a year. The recent telephone negotiation of President Obama with Nawaz Sharif Pakistani Prime Minister and the recent visit of Mr. Rahel Sharif Pakistan military chief to Washington and his negotiations with relevant authorities of that country indicate that a plan for counter terrorism struggle has been designed and the Americans hope with practical and transparent cooperation of Pakistan to overcome the threat of terrorism and the extension of American combatant forces operations in Afghanistan could be useful in weakening terrorists circles and achieving the final goal this is the eradication of terrorism and extremism, but it needs a transparent, practicable and honest cooperation of those forces including Pakistanis who claim they are committed to fight terrorism and extremism.
