Kabul (BNA) The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations says that after the establishment of the Islamic Emirate, 500,000 Afghan refugees from Iran, Pakistan and some other countries have returned to Country.

Mohammad Arsalah Kharoti, Deputy Minister of Refugees and Repatriations, who briefed reporters on the ministry’s activities and achievements over the past six months, told a news conference that the Islamic Emirate have been working to facilitate the return of refugees from Iran and Pakistan. The Deputy Minister of Refugees said that there are still seven million Afghan citizens in Iran, Pakistan and many other countries.

From the number, 3 million are migrants in Iran, 3 million in Pakistan and another 1 million in Western countries.

The Deputy Minister of Refugees declaring the number of internally displaced persons at about 3 million, saying that 250,000 internally displaced persons had returned to their main residency places in the past six months.

According to him, urgent humanitarian assistance has been provided to families who have returned to their main residential places, including transportation costs.

Kharoti also says that in the past six months, nearly three million internally displaced people who have not yet returned to their neighborhoods have received food and non-foodstuffs aid from national and international aiding institutions.

The Deputy Minister of Refugees acknowledges that there are complaints about corruption in the process of distributing humanitarian aid; But he says efforts are underway to curb corruption in the distribution process. “The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations intends to create an online database to identify people in need and to ensure the transparent and fair distribution of humanitarian aid, so that national and international aid institutions could be able provided to those in actual need,” said the deputy of the ministry.

Regarding the distribution of land to Repatriates, the Deputy Minister of Refugees said: “During the previous government, no special attention had paid to Repatriates and the process of distributing land and apartments to immigrants and Repatriates was unfair and full of corruption.”

He stressed that the Islamic Emirate is trying to regulate the distribution of land and residential apartments to Repatriates and curb corruption.

During more than four decades of war and violence in Afghanistan, millions of Afghans have migrated and thousands of families have been displaced from their main residential places.

According to reports, the migration of Afghans to neighboring countries is still ongoing and thousands of people enter Iran and Pakistan daily, both legally and illegally. But the Ministry of Refugees says that new the invasion is end and security ensured in the country, the number of migrants has decreased compared to the past six months.
