Afghanistan Defeats Fiji By 226 Runs In ICC U19 World Cup

Kabul (BNA) The Afghanistan Under-19 cricket team defeated Fiji by 226 runs during a play-off match for the ninth place in the quarter-final of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
The Afghan U-19s set a target of 340 runs after Fiji won the toss and elected to field first.
Afghanistan lost nine wickets during the 50 over match with opener Karim Janat scoring 156 runs from 132 balls. He hit 6 Sixes and 12 Fours, having a strike rate of 118.18.
It was Janat who helped to elevate the Afghan team despite losing early wickets in the top order, with opener Ihsanullah scoring 7 runs, Tariq 0 runs, and Rashid khan 6 runs.
In the middle order Pervez Malikzai scored 74 runs from 69 balls, Waheedullah Shafaq 29 runs, Ikram Faizi and Shams-ur-Rehman 11 runs each.
Nijat Masood scored 14 runs while Muslim Musa remained not out after scoring 16 runs together with Zahir Khan who scored 3 runs.
The Fiji batsmen could not chase the given target and were all out during the 31.2 over the match and by scoring 114 runs.
It is due that the country under 19-cricket team for taking ninth place in the world to contest with New Zeeland under 19-cricket team.
