Millions of Afghans’ Health In Danger, MoPH

Wednesday October 7, 2015

Kabul (BNA) Ministry of Public Health supports the calls for a thorough, impartial investigation by an independent enquiry team into the attack on the MSF hospital in Kunduz.
The attack on the hospital which sadly killed and injured a number of staff and patients has seriously put into jeopardy the vital health, medical and surgical work of international and local health personnel.
Staff no longer feels safe in any health facility anywhere in the country. And some international health organizations are questioning whether the risks of staying in the country are just too high after such an attack. The Ministry of Public Health relies heavily on, and is very grateful for, the presence of international and local health organization. NGO’s in particular, are doing invaluable work in the provision of health services, without them millions of Afghans will suffer from persistent ill health and women and children will die in even higher rates than they are now.
