Japan’s $6.9 Million Aid Supports Vaccination Services and Campaigns in Afghanistan

KABUL (BNA): The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) announced that Japan is supporting vaccination services and vaccination campaigns in Afghanistan by providing $6.9 million in aid.

UNICEF has stated in a statement that the Japanese government is providing an additional $6.9 million to support UNICEF’s lifesaving efforts.

The statement mentions that this financial assistance to UNICEF enables the procurement of vaccines and injection equipment to provide vaccination services and conduct vaccination campaigns in Afghanistan.

According to the announcement, the mentioned assistance from Japan will help protect 4.1 million children and women against various diseases including measles, tuberculosis (TB), polio, hepatitis B, and tetanus through the provision of routine vaccination services and also protect 4.7 million children against polio through the national polio vaccination campaign.
