Kabul (BNA) Afghanistan and the US as victims of terrorism have been strategic allies in fighting the phenomenon and this common threat that both nations are suffering from has caused on further promoting of durable ties and strengthening of relations between these two friendly countries.
Currently both governments are endeavoring to counter terrorism, the common enemy by establishing of long term cooperation.
Afghanistan strongly requires the support the United States in this connection.
The international community led by the US gained landmark achievements in last ten years in the country and presently that country focuses on Afghanistan security situation after 2014 pullout of foreign forces from the country.
President Hamid Karzai heading a high level delegation in his official tour to the United States conferred with US officials on Afghan-US inseparable relations and its further intensification.
The Afghan delegation had its achievements including transition of the security responsibilities, withdrawal of US forces from the villages and their role in Afghanistan as the spring of the upcoming year in combat activities and its support.
During his trip, president Karzai met his US counterpart president Obama, Leon Panetta US defense secretary, Hillary Clinton America’s foreign secretary and other high ranking government officials.
Fighting terrorism is essential for both Afghanistan and the US as president Karzai during his stay in America visited the site where in 2001 come under attack of Al-Qaeda terrorist network resulted in killing of many people which this clearly indicates that war on terror to move forward and continue till complete eradication of the menace.
For further intensification of the fight against terrorism, the United States assistance with Afghanistan in various spheres including civil military fields and signing of Afghan-US security pact is vital.
President Karzai in his meeting with US defense secretary officials said” I am sure Afghan-US security pact will provide good opportunity for both Afghanistan and the United States to find their joint interest and with and the support of US government, security to be maintained in the country and Afghans will defend from their territory and won’t let terrorists to create hurdles before peace and stability in Afghanistan.
While the Afghan sovereignty should be considered, through a stable and peaceful Afghanistan the interests of the US also be maintained, so it is necessary that the Afghan-US security accord to play its role toward a stable Afghanistan.
