Sunday October 11, 2015
Kabul (BNA) Russian special envoy to Afghanistan says Afghanistan will receive more assistance from Russia in near future. Zamir Kabelov says Moscow will continue its support from Afghanistan security forces and is determined to sign an agreement of handing over MD-35 helicopters to Afghanistan side during the current month.
He stressed that presence of foreign military forces were not the key of peace and security in Afghanistan. “Afghanistan has army and most of Afghans know how to use weapons and we should strengthen national base and not try to defend the government of Afghanistan by using foreign military forces,” the Russian envoy said.  He asserted US and NATO forces’ presence in Afghanistan have caused increase of terrorists in the country. Meanwhile, Russian army chief of staff has said there were nearly 2000 Daesh individuals in Afghanistan where they would act against Russia. After Kunduz incident, military aid and cooperation of Russia with Afghanistan have expanded. On Thursday, Russia hosted an international session on Afghanistan in which terrorist groups’ activities and their infiltration to Central Asian countries were discussed and reviewed.
