International Museum Day Marked

Kabul (BNA) Dr. Sayed Makhdoom Raheen, the Minister for Information and Culture in a meeting to mark the International Museum Day said that the construction of new national museum needs further support of the international friends. 
According to BNA correspondent, attended by officials from the ministry for information and culture and foreign guests in the hall of national museum, head of the museum Omara Khan Masoudi said that museums in Afghanistan had been badly damaged during civil wars in 1992 to 1995. He also said that 70 percent of the relics had been looted over the period. Masoudi also noted that with the support of UNESCO and other cultural loving agencies and nations 9474 artifacts had been recollected and the process is going on.
In his address, Dr. Raheen counted the bitter impact of the war on national museum and historic relics pointed out the ministry for information and culture besides rebuilding the museum, the relics is less in the national museum than it had in the past, saying more digging needed in the historical sites.
Officials with the UNESCO and other agencies also spoke at the conference and promised their cooperation in the cultural field.
