AIJA Asks For Aids To Poverty Stricken Dead Journalist’s Family

Kabul (BNA) Afghanistan Independent Journalists Association (AIJA) Sunday asked the government to provide assistance for the family of late Mauladad Yaqobi, an Afghan journalist who died in an Indian hospital late on yesterday.
Facing harsh economic problems, the freelance journalist who was working for both Pajhwok Afghan News and the Ariana TV had reportedly died of critical illness in an Indian hospital, the AIJA said in a statement.
The hospital officials had refused to hand over the body to his next of kin due to their failure to pay the treatment cost, the AIJA said, with the chief Rahimullah Samandar asking the government, particularly the Ministry of Information and Culture (MoIC) to provide some cashes from the journalists’ related monetary fund for the poverty-stricken journalist’s  family.
The association said the fund would help the body be taken home from Indian as well. Mauladad Yaqobi who was the only bread winner of his household passed away of critical ailment leaving behind three children in critical need of the government.
