Kabul (BNA) National Directorate of Security (NDS) foiled a plot to assassinate the first vice-president Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum.
A statement by NDS said a group of five militants were looking to carry out coordinated suicide attack on Gen. Dostum. The statement further added that the group was arrested during a special military operation from the 5th police district of Kabul city, while the fifth bombe was arrested from Mazar-e-Sharif city. The detained individuals were identified as Shamsullah, Abdul Manan, Saifullah and Qudratullah, NDS said, adding that the detained militants have confessed that they were trained outside Afghanistan to carry out attack. The detained militants were residents of Kandahar and Paktika provinces. The anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the reports so far.
