85pc Of Civilian Casualties Caused By Roadside Mine Blast

Kabul (BNA) Deputy Minister of publication of Ministry of information and Culture said that 85% of civilian casualties in the country are due to explosion of street side mines and this is the duty of the media to work for public awareness in this respect.
Deen Mohammad Mubarez Rashidi who was addressing the public awareness committee on explosions stressed that most of the civilian casualties, the security personnel and foreign troops emanates from the explosions of the street side mines.
He added that people should gain awareness not to touch the suspicion materials and explosives and the street side mines.
At the committee’s meeting in addition to the in charges of the ministry of information and culture, press in charges and spokespersons of the ministries of national defense and interior affairs, Hajj and endowment, national security, local organs, representative of UNICEF and the US embassy also participated.
It should be noted that some time back the presidential office by issuing a decree instructed the government organs that with the cooperation of the world community adopt appropriate measures for avoiding the street side mines and as per this decree several public awareness working committees including public awareness committee were formed.
This committee is administered by the ministry of information and culture.
