30,000 New Graduates To Join Academic Institutions, MoE

Kabul (BNA) The Afghan Ministry of Education pursued comprehensive programs over the last eleven years to further support academic sector in the country.
It’s a positive development that education sector received landmark growth in Afghanistan as compare to the previous decade.
But, in some cases, a number of challenges were also emerged on way of education that includes insecurity and insufficient budget.
Despite the challenges mentioned above, the education sector has received tangible growth in the country and more than 10,000 professional teachers are graduated from teachers training centers on annual basis while tens of thousands of students complete their secondary schools and join the higher education institutions and government universities.
While the efforts of the Ministry of Education regarding to recruitment of new teachers were evaluated and discussed with media the spokesman of the Education Ministry said,   “as you know that education sector received visible growth in Afghanistan and its expected that this up to 30,000 professional teachers are graduated from the teacher training institutes and the Ministry of Education intends to recruit 12,000 from among the total number and currently, up 100,000 teachers are serving the nation’s sons and daughters in schools.” spokesman of the Ministry of Education Amanullah Eman said..
In a question with regard to number of school graduates, the spokesman said, “In 2011 up to 175,000 students were graduated and this figure increased to 210,000 in 2012, the Ministry of Education expects 310,000 school graduates this year and it will reach to nearly 500,000 within the next two years.
The spokesman also pinned towards the construction of school buildings and said, “Over the recent years, up 9,000 school buildings were built across the country and we have target to rise it to 16,000,  provided that international community continue backing education sector in Afghanistan.
Responding to a query regarding the challenges on way of education sector in the country, the spokesman said, “Insecurity has overshadowed educational sector in some vulnerable areas of the country and currently more than 430 schools have been closed down by the insurgents, alongside insecurity, inadequate budget availability also avoiding us to ensure access of the children into schools in risky regions”.
