Afghanistan and Turkmenistan Hold First Round of Talks on Financial and Trade Issues

 

KABUL (BNA): The first round of negotiations between officials from the financial sectors of Afghanistan and Turkmenistan took place at the Ministry of Finance of the Islamic Emirate.

The talks focused on preventing double taxation and addressing other customs issues.

Representing Afghanistan was Abdul Wali Nouri, the Deputy Finance Minister, along with relevant department officials.

Turkmenistan was represented by Bay Murad Hayatguli Ov, the Deputy Chief of Accounting and Fiscal Policy, officials from their Ministry of Finance and Economy, and the Consul of the Turkmenistan Embassy in Kabul.

After discussions and a review of the initial draft, both sides signed a preliminary agreement on the taxation issue.

This agreement emphasizes the prevention of double taxation with the aim of enhancing economic and trade relations, increasing investment, fostering mutual cooperation, preventing tax evasion, and facilitating national and international trade.

It’s worth noting that the next round of negotiations between the two countries is scheduled to take place in the near future.
