62% Returnees from Pakistan are Children and Adolescents: WHO

KABUL (BNA): The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that 62% of Afghan returnees from Pakistan are adolescents and children.
According to a new report on the situation of migrants and returnees from Pakistan, 471,500 Afghan refugees returned to Afghanistan from Pakistan between September and December of this year.

According to the survey, 48% of returns are women, 62% are children and adolescents, and 24% are youngsters under the age of five.
From November 1 to December 19, WHO and its partner organizations delivered health services to 167,797 people.

Primary and secondary healthcare, mental health support, and maternity and newborn health are among the services provided.

The organization highlights the vulnerability of returnees, especially women, children, and the elderly, in harsh winter conditions and challenging circumstances.

The World Health Organization has requested $10 million for a six-month period to assist returnees from Pakistan, of which only $500,000 has been secured so far.

This report comes amid Pakistan initiating the detention and expulsion of Afghan migrants and refugees for political reasons since November, facing global reactions.
