FARAH (BNA): local officials in Farah province says a 500kg bomb left over from the war with the former Soviet Union was discovered and defused on Friday.
Aref Adel, a spokesman for the Farah commander police told Bakhtar News Agency correspondent that the 500-kilogram bomb had lefted from the stint Russian occupation of Afghanistan.
According to him, the bomb was discovered from the outskirts of Farah, which was transferred to the mountainous area of Kafeer Qala for neutralization and was defused by the engineering team of the Farah Police Commander.
A spokesman for the Farah Police Commander called on the public to inform the relevant authorities if they encounter unknown objects and unexploded ordnance.
