Media Officials Call On VP

Kabul (BNA) A friendly session was held Thursday with participation of officials and personnel of nearly 30 media and supportive media organizations and second vice president Sarwar Danesh in Kabul.
In the session held in a friendly environment, issues as security challenges media was facing with, government support from media, journalists safety and others were discussed and reviewed.
Sarwar Danesh first condemned once again attack on personnel of MOBY group, considering the attack as a dreadful crime.
As the incident has been followed by widespread national and international reactions and considered it as war crime by organizations, it has provided a way so that government and media supportive organizations should pay basic attention to media’s activities and journalists and current problems in various sectors should be addressed.
In the session, Sayeda Mujgan Mustafavi, Deputy Minister of Publication Affairs for Information and Culture while praising the second vice president for concluding regulation for procedure of establishment and activities of media organizations stressed that finalization of the regulation was facing with problem and postponement, adding that the regulation could not be finalized if Danesh had not worked in this regard. Deputy minister of information and culture also enumerated a series of suggestions as processing of legislative document related to activity by relevant organs, modification and reviewing a number of laws, cooperation of government institutions in access to information, creating a mechanism in connection with fair distribution of advertisements, providing assistance to families of media victims and strengthening of media supportive organizations, welcomed by the session and second vice president.
After hearing visions of media officials, the second vice president added freedom of expression was natural rights of human and the government was obliged to protect this right, assuring that there was not negative thought against media’s activities in national unity government, saying that support from media has been guaranteed in most of legislative documents and the national unity government believed on values as freedom of expression and support from media.
