Officials Sign MoU to Establish Electronic Hajj Process

Kabul (BNA) Officials on Saturday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish electronic application process for Hajj affairs.
The agreement was signed between Acting Communication and IT Minister Fahim Hashimi and Acting Haj and Religious Affairs Minister Abdul Hakim Munib at the Government Media and Information Center yesterday.
After implementation of this program all pilgrims trip to Hajj will go through these steps. After signing the MoU, Mohammad Fahim Hashimi told the media that with the implementation of the program, the documentation process for the Hajj registration process would become easier and quicker.
“According to this MoU, Asan-Khedmat will study all the existing processes of the Hajj ministry and accordingly create an electronic hajj system for their staff and conduct capacity building workshops for them,” Minister Hashimi said, adding the Electronic System will facilitate the Hajj process for people including registration process, getting passport and visa, transferring money and getting other information. He also added that this system is a major step to eclecticize the public services and continues to effectively control and manage Hajj revenues and expenditures.
Meanwhile, Acting Minister of Hajj and Religious Affairs emphasized that the system will be developed in Pashto, Dari and English, also in the provinces the Asan-Khedmat staffs will cooperate with those who intend to perform Hajj with their documentation process in coordination with the Hajj and Religious departments. Moreover, he said with the implementation of the electronic system of Hajj process, there will be many facilities for the people.
The Minister added that the MoHRA directorates in the provinces will work with those who plan to perform Hajj as part of their documentation process with the electronic system. According to a report from the MoHRA, more than 30,000 people intend to perform Hajj every year. Hajj process is highly controversial and time consuming, but with the simplification of this Electronic process, it can avoid the consumption of time.
More than 30,000 Afghans perform Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia annually.
