Afghans With One Voice Support Their Security Forces, President Ghani // ANDSF Should Be Apolitical: Dr. Abdullah

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani attended a gathering to commemorate Hoot 9th (February 27th) the day of Afghan security forces at Ministry of Defense Air Forces base here yesterday, a presidential statement said.
“Let’s celebrate the 100th anniversary of our independence in historic Darul Aman palace and complete the incomplete chapter of Afghanistan’s history began by King Amanullah Khan with firm national will and unity,” the president told the gathering as quoted by the president.
Later on the chief of army staff, four star General Qadam Shah Shaheem in his remarks praised President Ghani’s attention to security forces and addressing the families of security forces’ martyrs.
The president awarded honorary ribbon to first garrison of the special operation division, general command of the police Special Forces as the competent forces and brave ribbon to first garrison of the first division of 301 Tandar national army corp, the statement added.
The president later on laid wreath at the independence minaret and attended a gathering at the compound of the ministry of national defense.
According to the statement, inaugurating the ceremony, Minister of Defense Major General Abdullah Habibi briefed the participants on ministry’s plans, adding security forces were ready to foil vicious plans of the enemies. Meanwhile besides praying to the souls of the martyrs, the chief executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah said Afghan security forces were defending the legitimate government of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, adding the victory of right over wrong was inevitable. He said that the security forces should be apolitical and their only politics should be of defending their country and people.
Calling the Afghan security forces as one of the bravest forces, Dr. Abdullah said celebration of the day would remind us of the responsibilities toward our forces, the statement added.
Chief of the National Directorate of Security said Afghan forces passing the biggest test of the history, adding they (security forces) not only defends the territorial integrity, but also fights terrorists in every corner of the country.
Meanwhile the president addressing the ceremony said that 98 years ago, king Amanullah Khan announced Afghanistan independence at the same day (Hoot 9), adding that Hoot 9 is the right date to be named after the brave security forces.
Pointing to roots of respecting the security forces in the course of history, the president said those defends the country and implement rule of law would be called Ghazi and Mujahid and those being sacrificed would be the martyrs.
Calling for a single voice against the vicious activities of the enemies, the president said around 20 terrorist group, including Taliban and IS fighting in Afghanistan.
“Taliban enjoying their life and each of them have married several times. Their families having luxury life and have bank accounts in foreign countries. But they have been cheating and using those of unlettered for their vicious goals,” the president noted.
The president told the security forces that as their supreme commander always thinking about extending facilities and equipment to them as well as think about their capacity building so that to curb the destructive activities of the terrorists.
“Does Taliban ready to debate with our religious scholars? Does aggression allowed in Islam? Does war allowed in a country where its constitution is more Islamic than Taliban or their supporter ones? If you demand reforms, the for sure we want too, but if you plan to destroy the country, then our forces know better how to deal with insurgents,” the president told the Taliban.
The ceremony concluded with issuing medals and appreciations to national defense and security forces’ personnel and the martyrs’ families.
The ceremony was attended by second vice president Sarwar Danesh, Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdulalh and a number of the country’s security forces officials.
