Constitution Guarantees Civil Demonstrations: President Ghani

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met with leadership of the enlightenment movement (Jonbesh Roshnai) here at the presidential palace the other day, a statement said.
According to presidential press office, MP Ahmad Behzad representing others said the movement had cancelled their civil demonstration of 24th July, adding their protest was aiming for a stable and democratic Afghanistan. He said their only wish was to bring about reforms and ask for addressing the people’s legitimate demands, adding they were ready to negotiate with government. Pointing to negotiation as the only solution for ending disputes, second vice president Mohammad Sarwar Danesh said he witnessed President Ghani’s good intentions towards development of the central provinces, adding such intensions has been continued.
“We are in a situation that in one side we suffer, while the other side we have to think about the future,” President Ghani told the meeting, Calling last year’s July 23rd attack on enlightenment movement as the tragedy of the 21st century. He also said constitution was guaranteeing civil demonstration.  President Ghani asked for detailed discussions on development of the central provinces, adding plan underway to develop Dasht-e-Barchi area. The meeting decided establishment of a committee to review extension of electricity to Bamyan province.
