US To Provide $16.1m To Fight Narcotic In Afghanistan

Kabul (BNA) US will provide $16.1 million to Afghanistan for counter narcotics.
According to BNA, Daniel Fout, a cultural official for US embassy to Kabul in a joint news conference with Minister of Counternarcotic said, “US major aim in Afghanistan is to counter narcotics and encourage Afghan farmers to root out poppy cultivation in the country, adding the US is therefore providing $16.1 million to Afghanistan for serious counternarcotic and encouraging farmers to stop poppy cultivation in the country.” According to the US embassy’s official, poppy cultivation reached to 0% in 15 provinces of Afghanistan until 2013, while the poppy cultivation had reduced in five provinces and US has provided nearly $147 million so far to those provinces where poppy cultivation had reached to zero or reduced remarkably. Meanwhile, Minister of Counter Narcotics Deen Mohammad Mubariz Rashidi says this time a good procedure has been prepared for better spending of the US assistance in the country. He said they should provide bonus to those provinces where better law was enforced, drug-traffickers were arrested and drugs were seized.
