Monday July 24, 2017

Kabul (BNA) A number of representatives of people in parliament and military and political experts while considering battles in Kunduz and Baghlan as critical stressed that Kunduz and Baghlan were security gate of the country’s north and security would get fragile and suffering only if the barrier was broken. Related to security of the country’s north, a military expert Ali Rahmani told, “We expect the country’s national defense and security forces to make further effort towards maintaining security in Baghlan and Kunduz provinces because insurgents are trying to defeat Afghan security forces for the reason that the respective provinces are very important so that they can expand their activities in other parts of the country’s north”.
Muhayuddin, a former Afghan general while praising Afghan combat forces for their capabilities stressed that Afghan national defense and security forces should have tactical retreat, otherwise conflict in Kunduz and Baghlan would be deteriorating and disappointing; on the other hand, we should not forget that attention to possible casualties and losses in conflict and protection of civilians’ lives and properties were important enough because one of the main causes of the Afghan security forces’ defeat in the past was deep distance between the people and government.
According to officials for ministry of national defense, widespread operations have been launched by Afghan national defense and security forces in the country’s northern provinces in particular Kunduz and Baghlan where insurgents have suffered heavy casualties.
Spokesperson to ministry of national defense Brig. Gen. Dawlat Waziri said, “Clearing operations are underway in insecure areas of a number of the country’s northern provinces such as Baghlan, Kunduz, Balkh, Jawzjan and Takhar and one of our main goals are to provide better security for the country’s people and we assure all the people of Afghanistan that the country’s national defense and security forces are capable enough and are trying to tighten security”. “Afghan national defense and security forces have launched and organized 19 operations in 13 provinces of the country where a large number of armed insurgents have been killed and injured, while a number of others arrested”, Waziri added. He informed of launching 21 other operations in the country by commando and special units forces with air support of drones considered as effective in fight against terrorists in the country.
Afghan people also considered presence of foreign forces in conflicts as key, saying that foreign forces could bring good coordination between Afghan security forces in conflicts and help the forces with air support in operations. Zafar, a Baghlan resident who is living now in Kabul considered role of foreign forces as key in conflicts, adding that foreign forces could play better role in rooting out armed terrorists in the country. Khalilullah, a school teacher has told, “One of the main causes that Afghan security forces lose cleared areas again is lack of troops and not deploying fresh forces in the areas. Remarks by a number of representatives of people in parliament and military experts have come amid increasing insecurities in a number of the country’s Northern provinces in particular Kunduz, Baghlan and Badakhshan.
