President Karzai Meets US Senate Delegation

Kabul (BNA) President Hamid Karzai met Thursday with Senator John McCain, Senator Lenzi Graham, and Senator John Beraso members of the US Senate.
Presidential press office said BNA, at this meeting that was held at the Presidential Palace, the sides discussed Afghan-US security pact, Bagram prison and regional issues.
Touching on the security pact between Afghanistan and the US President Karzai once again emphasized on acceptance of the Afghanistan’s preconditions about this agreement.
He noted that the people of Afghanistan want signing of the security pact with the US on condition of ensuring of peace and security in their country.
He stressed that the process of peace is important for Afghanistan and the people of Afghanistan want peace, not that their country once again return to turmoil and conditions occur that the government weaken and irregularities prevail here, adding that the Afghans in order to remove this concern are for opting for peace.
He stressed that we are for practical start of open peace process along with national unity of Afghanistan.
Touching on the banning of operations in the Afghans’ homes he added that more work should take place in this respect so that our people get access to peace and calmness.
With respect to Bagram prison the president said that creation of prison and arresting that took place were against enforced laws of Afghanistan and human rights principles as a result of which a considerable number of our innocent countrymen spent years under captivity.
He wants that innocent inmates should be freed in accordance with the enforced laws of the country and the criminals tried and punished under the laws.
