International Aid Declines in Afghanistan: OCHA

KABUL (BNA): The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has reported a decline in international aid to Afghanistan. This decrease comes at a time when 10.3 million people in the country are in desperate need of humanitarian assistance.

Despite the urgent need, international partners have scaled back their aid efforts in the country. This information was recently shared by OCHA on social media, highlighting the statistics of those requiring humanitarian aid in Afghanistan.

The figures reveal that over five million people in central Afghanistan, including Kabul, are in need of humanitarian assistance. In southern Afghanistan, the number is 3.7 million, while in western Afghanistan, it stands at 3.3 million.

OCHA’s reports also indicate that 3.3 million people in northern Afghanistan, 3.6 million in the northeastern region, 2.7 million in the southeast, and 1.6 million in the eastern region are in need of aid.

Previously, OCHA had identified Afghanistan as one of the most complex humanitarian emergencies worldwide, with over 24 million people requiring humanitarian aid.
