4 policemen shot dead

Wednesday, April 04, 2012

Kabul (BNA) Four Policemen and two civilians were shot dead inside a checkpoint after being poisoned in southern province of Helmand, local officials said.  A group of the armed Taliban attacked the checkpoint and killed the six men in Nahr-e-Siraj district, said a police official.  At least two other policemen who were wounded are in critical condition.  Three policemen, who are suspected to behind the poisoning and the plot, went missing.  Local officials have launched an investigation into the incident, said a spokesman for the provincial governor, Daud Ahmadi.  It’s the second incident in a week that Afghan police personnel are turning their guns against their colleagues or plotting to kill them.  Nine policemen were killed by their colleague in eastern Paktika province earlier this week.  A day earlier NATO said 16 international troops have been killed in attacks by their Afghan counterparts since January.
