Kabul (BNA) Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan met a number of Sunni and Shia Ulamas (religious scholars).
The meeting held yesterday at presidential palace representing the others, Ayatullah Salihi and Shaikh Nematullah Ghafari said, “The month of Muharam is a month to remember an Islamic and human sacrifice which will be remembered forever in human history.”
Ayatullah Salihi appreciated President Hamid Karzai and said, “As special affection you have with Ahl-e-Bait, you always paid particular consideration for celebration of Muharam and Ashura days and instructed relevant organs for taking necessary steps in this regard.
In the meeting, Shaikh Nematullah Ghafari read out draft prepared by Afghanistan religious affairs council and asked Afghan security organs to cooperate for maintaining security during the Muharam and Ashura days and coordinate their security programs with organizers of the ceremonies.
Shaikh Nematullah Ghafari while praising security organs cooperation asked all organizers of the Ashura ceremonies to not bother people in streets and roads.
The draft of Afghanistan religious affairs council stressed that doors should not be placed in those areas where Ashura ceremonies are not celebrated and all organizers of ceremonies and mourners were asked to avoid acts causing local people bothered.
The draft also asked all TVs and radios to not broadcast programs which are against the celebration of Ashura days.
In the meeting, President Hamid Karzai considered celebration of Muharam and Ashura days as important religious and national issue and assured that the country’s security organs would better maintain security during the Ashura days.
Hamid Karzai said all ceremonies of Ashura have passed in complete security condition in the past 12 years except one incident.
The country’s president said Afghan nation reacted against last year’s incident and it was proved that our nation is a united nation.
Hamid Karzai further said, “Celebration of Muharam and Ashura days will pass in a secure environment and security organs will follow all necessary steps for maintaining of security during the celebration days.”
The country’s president asked all religious ulemas and organizers of the ceremonies to cooperate with security organs for better coordination of the programs on Ashura days.
