MoI To Instigate Digital Passport Distribution Next Year

Kabul (BNA) The chairman of passport directorate of Ministry of Interior (MoI) said that corruption has visibly reduced in the concerned organ and overcrowding of the applicants has also declined by half.
Criticisms have always been mounted on the Ministry of Interior over the slow pace of electronic passports distributions and the concerned ministry was accused of negligence and deficiency by the people. “WE have reduced the scale of corruption in our organ, the people were confronting major problems while submitting their applications for passports because of corruption, but now we complete the process in one day period and issue the order to the applicants to process their applications without paying money illegally,” head of passport directorate of the MoI, Sayeed Omar said. “Digital passport distribution would be instigated next year and I assure the countrymen to extend it across the country.”
According to the head of passport directorate, the Central Bank of Afghanistan (CBA) intends to open its new branch within the premises of passport directorate and this will help the applicants to pay passport fees without time wastage.
“However, the passport directorate accomplished major tasks in this respect, but still people face some problems while receiving passports, corruption still exists in the passport directorate and effective measures should be taken to eliminate the humiliated trend,” a Kabul resident Fredows said. Distribution of digital passports will also help to prevent illegalities and fake distributions. It will also lay positive impacts on security the national documents of the country.
