First Lady Assists To Flood-Affected Families In Samangan, Baghlan

Kabul (BNA) 550 flood-affected and miserable families in Samangan have received winter assistance provided by First Lady of the country.
The assistance included food and non-food items of Saudi Arabia. Distributing the assistance to the families, Palwasha Amin Ahmadzai, advisor to the country’s first lady said, “The assistance including flour, sugar, rice, cooking, oil, dates, blankets and floors were distributed in Samangan province, adding President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani had received the assistance during his recent visit to Saudi Arabia.” According to Mrs. Ghani, the assistance costing $ two million has been allocated by the country’s first lady to flood-affected and needy families in Samangan, Baghlan and Khost provinces. The items are distributed to the families with close cooperation of directorate of Afghan Red Crescent Society. Provincial chief of Red Crescent Society for Samangan Mohammad Zahir Amiri said the assistance was distributed to those families identified and surveyed previously by the province’s national disaster management authority.
According to Amiri, the times have been distributed to 378 families in Khuram Sarbagh district and 179 families in Roy Duaab district of the province. According to district governor of Sarbagh, each family has received 30kg flour, 15kg sugar, 15 kg rice, 3lit cooking oil, 3kg dates, 3 blankets and floor. According to another report, 780 flood-affected families in Guzargah-e-Noor and Freng districts of Baghlan province have received assistance including cooking oil, tea, sugar, dates, blankets and floors. The assistance has been also provided by the country’s first lady.
